Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Sains, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan undergo a rigorous editorial screening and peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific integrity of published articles.

The journal implements a Single-Blind Peer Review process, in which the identities of the reviewers remain anonymous to the authors, while the reviewers are aware of the authors' identities. Every manuscript is evaluated fairly based on its scientific merit, originality, methodological rigor, ethical standards, and relevance to the journal's focus and scope.

Step 1: Editorial Assessment

After submission through the Online Journal System (OJS), each manuscript is evaluated by the Editorial Office and the Editor-in-Chief.

The initial assessment considers whether:

  • The manuscript complies with the journal's Author Guidelines.

  • The manuscript falls within the journal's Focus and Scope.

  • The manuscript demonstrates originality, novelty, and scientific significance.

  • The manuscript is written in clear academic language.

  • Ethical requirements have been fulfilled, where applicable.

Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements may be rejected without external review (desk rejection).

Note: Authors are strongly encouraged to submit a plagiarism screening report (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate) as a supplementary file during submission.

Step 2: Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the editorial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area.

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:

  • Originality and novelty

  • Scientific contribution

  • Research methodology

  • Quality of data analysis

  • Validity of results and conclusions

  • Ethical considerations

  • Clarity and organization of the manuscript

  • Quality and relevance of references

Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the editor may decide to:

  • Accept the manuscript.

  • Accept with minor revisions.

  • Request major revisions.

  • Reject the manuscript.

Step 3: Revision

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the comments and recommendations provided by the reviewers and editors.

A detailed response letter explaining how each reviewer's comments have been addressed must accompany the revised manuscript.

If necessary, the revised manuscript may be sent back to the reviewers for an additional round of evaluation.

Step 4: Final Editorial Decision

After the revision process, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision regarding publication based on the reviewers' recommendations and the overall scientific quality of the manuscript.

Before publication, all accepted manuscripts undergo:

  • Final plagiarism screening.

  • Copyediting.

  • Language editing (if necessary).

  • Layout editing.

  • Proofreading.

The journal requires that the similarity index, excluding references, quotations, and commonly used phrases, should generally not exceed 15%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned for revision or rejected.

Step 5: Publication

Accepted manuscripts are published online after successfully completing all editorial and production processes.

All published articles are made permanently available through the journal website under the journal's Open Access Policy.

Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief has full authority to make the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts based on editorial evaluation, peer-review reports, compliance with publication ethics, and the manuscript's contribution to the advancement of science, technology, and education.

All editorial decisions are made independently, objectively, and solely on the basis of academic quality, originality, ethical compliance, and the manuscript's relevance to the journal's focus and scope.
