Publication Ethics Statement

Medical Research and Health Innovation is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. The journal follows the ethical principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher—to uphold these ethical standards.

The journal is dedicated to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record, ensuring editorial independence, promoting transparency in the publication process, and supporting best practices in scientific publishing.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to Medical Research and Health Innovation are expected to adhere to the following principles:

  1. Conduct research ethically, responsibly, and in accordance with all applicable laws, institutional regulations, and ethical guidelines.

  2. Present research findings accurately, honestly, and objectively without fabrication, falsification, inappropriate data manipulation, or selective reporting.

  3. Describe research methods clearly and transparently to enable verification and replication by other researchers.

  4. Submit only original manuscripts that have not been published previously and are not under consideration by another journal.

  5. Ensure that the manuscript is free from plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and copyright infringement.

  6. Properly acknowledge all sources through accurate citation and referencing.

  7. Ensure that authorship accurately reflects each individual's contribution to the research and manuscript preparation.

  8. Obtain ethical approval from the appropriate ethics committee for research involving human participants or animals and provide informed consent where applicable.

  9. Disclose all sources of research funding and any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest.

  10. Promptly notify the editorial office if significant errors are discovered after submission or publication and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions when necessary.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and fairness of the editorial process. Editors shall:

  1. Evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit without discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, political beliefs, or institutional affiliation.

  2. Maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and use manuscript information only for editorial purposes.

  3. Ensure that every manuscript undergoes a fair, objective, and timely peer-review process.

  4. Make publication decisions based on the manuscript's originality, scientific significance, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal's scope.

  5. Prevent conflicts of interest throughout the editorial process.

  6. Take appropriate action when ethical concerns, plagiarism, data manipulation, duplicate publication, or other forms of research misconduct are suspected.

  7. Follow COPE guidelines in handling corrections, retractions, and ethical disputes.

During the editorial assessment, editors consider whether:

  • The study is scientifically valid.

  • The methodology is appropriate and adequately described.

  • The sample size and statistical analysis are sufficient.

  • The results are presented clearly and objectively.

  • Possible sources of bias or confounding factors have been adequately addressed.

  • The conclusions are supported by the data.

  • The manuscript makes a meaningful contribution to medical and health sciences.

  • Ethical risks have been minimized and appropriate approvals have been obtained.

Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

Peer reviewers are expected to:

  1. Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based evaluations.

  2. Maintain confidentiality of all manuscripts under review.

  3. Identify relevant published work that has not been cited.

  4. Inform the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical misconduct.

  5. Decline to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.

  6. Complete the review within the agreed review period.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher supports the editorial team in maintaining the integrity of the publication process by:

  1. Safeguarding editorial independence.

  2. Ensuring that editorial decisions are free from commercial influence.

  3. Supporting editors in investigating allegations of research misconduct.

  4. Maintaining the permanent accessibility and preservation of published articles.

  5. Promoting ethical publishing practices in accordance with international standards.

Research Misconduct

The journal does not tolerate any form of publication misconduct, including but not limited to:

  • Plagiarism

  • Self-plagiarism

  • Data fabrication

  • Data falsification

  • Image manipulation

  • Duplicate publication

  • Simultaneous submission

  • Citation manipulation

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

  • Authorship manipulation or gift authorship

Any allegation of misconduct will be investigated in accordance with the COPE Flowcharts and relevant international publishing ethics guidelines.

Corrections and Retractions

If significant errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, the journal may publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retract articles when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

Ethical Oversight

Research involving human participants, animals, biological materials, or sensitive data must comply with internationally recognized ethical standards and must have obtained approval from an appropriate Research Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB), where applicable.

Conflict of Interest

All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the objectivity of the publication process.
